We are happy to have you as a visitor to our website!  We Have Come This Far By Faith "Angels With Special Needs" is a non profit organization for children who have severe  disabilities. We focus on providing the children inclusion into every facet of everyday life.  The children our organization provides services to are wheelchair bound and require specialized care. I am the grandmother of a grandson who has a severe form of cerebral palsy therefore, I have first hand knowledge of the care required for a child who has special needs. I resigned from a position of being a deputy sheriff in order that I would be able to care for my grandson. The rewards in making that decision have been many I am now able to interact with him more and providing him quality care. 

Children with severe disabilities are those who traditionally have been labeled as having severe or profound mental retardation.  These children require ongoing extensive support in more than one major life activity in order to participate in integrated community settings and enjoy the quality of life available to people with fewer or no disabilities.

Children with severe or multiple disabilities may exhibit a wide range of characteristics, depending on the combination and severity of disabilities, and the person’s age. There are, however, some traits they may share, including:

• Limited speech or communication;

• Difficulty in basic physical mobility;

• Tendency to forget skills through disuse;

• Trouble generalizing skills from one situation to another; and

• A need for support in major life activities, domestic, leisure, community use, vocational.

A variety of medical problems may accompany severe disabilities. Examples include seizures, cerebral palsy, sensory loss, hydrocephalus, and scoliosis.

God Sent To Me An Angel God sent to me an angel, it had a broken wing. I bent my head and wondered "How could God do such a thing?" When I asked the Father why He sent this child to me, the answer was forthcoming, He said "Listen and you'll see." "My children are all precious, and none is like the rest. Each one to me is special, and the least is as the best. I send each one from Heaven and I place it in the care of those who know my mercy, those with love to spare. Sometimes I take them back again. Sometimes I let them stay. No matter what may happen I am never far away.
